HISTORIC VIRGINIA KEY BEACH PARK
Our venue is the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, a beautiful beachside park in Miami, Florida. It’s across the water from downtown Miami in Virginia Key, an 82-acre barrier island in the Biscayne Bay. You get there via the Rickenbacker Causeway. We’ll be there at the park and its mile-long beach with plenty of reggae music, organic food and other goodies.GET DIRECTIONSFESTIVAL MAP
23 YEARS OF FEEL GOOD MUSIC
The 9 Mile Music Festival is all about you and those we help. With every can of food you donate to the festival, together we can feed the homeless and others in need. This is the spirit of the 9 Mile Music Festival. It’s all about how together we can make a difference for those who are less fortunate. United we stand, divided we fall. That’s what we believe. This makes our reggae music festival more than just a concert. It’s about doing good and spreading love. That’s how it started, as a labor of love pioneered by Bob Marley’s mother, Cedella Marley Booker. It has been held annually in Miami, Florida for the past 22 years, from its days as the “Marley Fest” to “The Caribbean Music Festival.”The new name stems from the village of Nine Mile, Jamaica. It’s the birthplace of Bob Marley and lies at the heart of our family. With your help, the festival has collected more than three million canned goods since its start in 1993. We hope to increase this amount with the upcoming festival – and more to come. Four canned goods are required for entry to the festival, along with buying an admission ticket. The canned goods are distributed to shelters in Miami, a way for all of us to give back to the community. We want to thank you for your support and donations.Enjoy the festival, and may Jah bless you – and may the spirit of The Legend play a reggae beat in your hearts forever. Thanks!
CANNED FOOD DRIVE
We like Curley’s House of Style. It helps the community – our community and yours – by providing food and clothing to the needy in the inner city of Miami.Their mission is to improve the quality of life of low-to-moderate income individuals and families, the elderly, the homebound, the abused, HIV/AIDS infected, youth and youth-at-risk. How? They do this by providing bulk food product to these needy residents of Liberty-Model City, and by serving as a neighborhood outreach ministry. We will donate all the canned goods you bring to the 9 Mile Music Festival to Curley’s House of Style, and we couldn’t be happier. Want to know more? You can check out their website for more on what they do and how you can help. With a mere $15, for example, you can help Curley’s House to feed a family for a day. Bulk food, clothes and school supplies can also be donated. They help about 1,000 people per week with food and information on diabetes, high blood pressure and job vacancies. They also sponsor financial education and literacy seminars. With partners, they provide summer employment for community youth, at-risk youth and seniors. There’s more. They also offer resume building skills and motivational seminars to help their residents to become more productive citizens. And there are food give-a-ways, a mentoring program for women, and free hair care for women residents. They’re doing a lot.GET INVOLVEDBECOME A SPONSER
